When people find out that Mark and I are both chefs and co-exist in the same kitchen, I am almost always asked, “How does that work, having two chefs in the same house?” I think they visualize Gordon Ramsey behaviors and one of us screaming and calling the other a donkey.  Mark and I are pretty evenly matched, he’s a big tall guy and I’m a feisty red head….thus preventing either of us from taking an offensive posture. I’m kidding, really, it’s great. One of us always feels like cooking and even if we don’t, there are always some leftovers one of us can use to kick up an old stand by, like Quesadilla, a staple in our house. Also, there is always someone there to inspire our creativity and share ideas with. We both love food, cooking, creating etc, so for us, it’s a match made in heaven. However, you knew this was coming right, there are, sometimes, some strange goings on in the Parker/Whitmire kitchen.

It usually goes something like this. My 11 year old says, “I’m hungry, can I have ice cream”, I respond, “NO JUNK, eat something healthy”, Mark suggests, “How about a banana”, 11 year old says, “Maybe with caramel on it”, all laughing, I say, “Where’s the torch?”. The next thing you know…. the nanas are getting the once over!

I don’t know, maybe this has happened in your house too? Yea, ok, probably not. I guess for us, the experimenting is fun and in the end, hey, it’s just a banana and some sugar…if it’s not good, oh well. We experiment with other dishes as well, such as the Timpano, and most of the time we end up with something yummy and we enjoy spending time cooking together. I hope that all of you have someone you love to cook with…it really does make the experiments more fun.  Do we ever disagree with how to do something in the kitchen, uh, yea....sometimes....we are both chef's for crying out loud...but that's ok, we both make an effort not to take over everything and in the end, Mark usually, as he should, defers to me being the boss.  Such a smart guy he is.

To answer your question, Banana Brule is very very very good!

I would like it know that I have never called Jen a donkey!

On the other hand, Jen has ended up calling me a 'juice box' or an 'f'ing doughnut' on several occasions.

In her defense, she has never been the one to go to the store for eggs, and come back with everything else but ..... eggs.

No sweetie, you have never called me a donkey...I'm sure not only out of a sense of self preservation...right? And you aren't an Fing Donut when you go for ONLY eggs and the four bags of groceries you return with are all sans eggs, ur just a silly donut.
