Mark and I have gone back and forth about whether or not to ‘review’ restaurants and both of us are against bashing anyone in print, but we do want to share with you when we find a place we would be happy to recommend. We are pretty hard to impress so if we say we liked it, they really did a good job and sharing it with you is our small way of thanking them for a great meal and you for stopping by TCW. So decision made, we won’t review, we will share.
It is very important to me that we all support the local family owned eateries when they serve good food! It’s a tough world out there and these small restaurants have a hard time competing against the big chains that litter our culinary landscape. (Can you tell I’m not a fan of the chains?) Those that can compete and continue to do good food deserve our support. The unfortunate reality is if we don’t support them, they may not be there the next time we stop by. Then, my worst nightmare becomes a reality, all that’s left is those crowded, noisy, mediocre chain restaurants. I’m really not a fan, did you get that? Also, if you find a good one, feel free to shoot me an email at, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . I would love to check them out too!
The first place I am going to tell you about I have a bit of a personal connection to, though I have no financial interest in it at all. I will tell you what that is in a bit, but first I will tell you why I like it so much.
This place epitomizes what I mean when I say ‘locally family owned eateries’. Behind The Squeeze Inn is a really great family working together to serve you great food at a fair price. They take a lot of pride in what they do and they work their butts off to do it right!
Sometimes I want a gourmet burger with Brie and grape coleslaw. YUM! Sometimes I want a straightforward cheeseburger with homemade fries, something they do extraordinarily well. Most of you have probably heard of the Squeeze Burgers and the famed cheese skirt, if not by word of mouth then perhaps on Food Networks Diners, Drive-in’s and Dives. If you haven’t then you better crawl out from under your rock and go get one for goodness sakes! They also have a lot of other great stuff on the menu ensuring you can eat there several times per week. The Galt location even serves breakfast!!
As promised, not only do I want to promote and support the local hard working families out there surviving in the restaurant world but I also want to give props to the Hausauer family for the great food served at the Squeeze Inn, something I know takes a lot of hard work, one of whom is perhaps my beautiful little sister, Katie, who officially became a Hausauer just over a year ago. Brandon, my brother in law, and little sis Katie spend most of their time in the Galt location making sure you always enjoy your next visit. Say hi for me when you stop by!
