No Super Bowl party would be complete without chips and salsa and Buffalo Wings! I already posted an easy, delicious salsa recipe here! I hope you try it. I also thought I would share my recipe for grilled chicken wings, which is actually a healthier way to enjoy some spicy wing goodness!
Grilled Chicken Wings
- 1 pound of chicken wings and drumettes
- 1 sticks of butter
- 2 cups of hot sauce, I like Franks
- 2 Tablespoons of Sriracha (Asian Red Chili Sauce)
- Canola Oil
- Salt and Pepper
In a sauce pan, melt the butter, then add the hot sauce and Sriracha. Sriracha is my favorite way to add some complex heat, if you don't want the extra heat, just leave it out. Keep the sauce warm while the chicken cooks.
Rinse and allow the chicken wings to dry in a colander in the sink for 10-15 minutes. Remember, proper handling of chicken products is very important to prevent cross contamination. Pour the wings into a bowl and coat lightly with oil, salt and pepper. Place them on a medium hot grill and allow them to crisp up and cook through, aproximately 12-15 minutes. When they are done, put them in a clean bowl and pour the sauce over them, giving them a good coating.
You can plate them on top of some lovely green leaf lettuce and serve with some Blue Cheese Dressing or Ranch. They are a sure fire hit and you save yourself some calories by not frying them. Plus, the grilling gives them an excellent flavor.
Happy Super Bowl!
